The Fulbright scholarships are an international academic exchange program designed to provide support to students from various regions of the world who aspire to pursue their studies in the United States. The selected individuals have the opportunity to undergo an enlightening experience, where they can engage in unique academic development possibilities at top-tier colleges and fully immerse themselves in different cultures.
Individuals from other countries are welcome to take part in this global educational exchange initiative, overseen by the United States Department of State Office. This effort aims to improve the connection and communication between those residing in the United States and those residing in other countries worldwide.
International students are advised to begin their application process in January 2024 for the academic session commencing in 2025. The United States Fulbright scholarship program has recently initiated a new invitation for applications.
The United States Fulbright Scholarships for 2024 provide around 470 teaching and research awards. Furthermore, there exists an additional classification of accolades that encompasses both instructional and scholarly pursuits. The program was founded in the year 2024 and encompasses a total of 125 countries on a global scale.
Application requirements
- Hold a bachelor's, engineering, or master's degree.
- Please be advised that those who possess merely graduate status will not be considered for acceptance.
- Must maintain a minimum academic average of 8 points.
- Possess a high proficiency in English, both in spoken and written form.
- Identifying as Salvadoran.
- I possess strong leadership abilities, a high level of drive, and the ability to easily adjust to new circumstances.
- Show dedication to your community by engaging in community service, volunteering, or other related endeavors.
- Meet the requirements to qualify for a J1 visa.
- Pledge to dedicate two years to returning to your home country after finishing your education in the United States in order to significantly enhance your influence in your professional
- domain.
- Without having previously acquired a Fulbright fellowship.
- Lacking a prior academic degree from a United States institution.
- Did not receive admission to a university in the United States upon submitting the application.

- Please provide a duplicate of the official academic title(s) that have been certified by the university that issued them, as well as the original certificate of grades for all higher-level academic programs you have finished.
- Ranking certificate awarded by the university(s) where you have successfully completed your study. If the institution does not provide this specific document, it is necessary to include a letter from the university stating this.

What expenses does the scholarship cover?
The Fulbright Scholarship for Foreign Students provides funding for various expenditures including; visa fees, travel costs, lodging charges, university tuition, and an emergency medical coverage known as ASPE. As a member in the program, you will be granted financial support for your university health insurance and will be automatically enrolled in emergency medical coverage offered by the Department of State, which is commonly referred to as ASPE benefits.
The scholarship does not provide coverage for the financial obligations related to dependents, such as a husband or children. If you intend to accompany your family members, you will be required to give proof of your financial capacity to support them throughout your academic pursuits. As a general guideline, it is necessary for you to provide evidence of ample financial means to support your dependents' costs for a duration of one year. You will be required to demonstrate a sum equivalent to 50% of your monthly allowance per month for the initial dependant, and 25% of the monthly allowance for the second dependent.
